Health Messenger
Special Olympics Health Messengers, empowered athletes, undergo comprehensive training to become esteemed health and wellness leaders, educators, advocates, and inspirational role models. Dedicated to fostering positive change within Special Olympics communities and the broader society, they take the lead in guiding teams, families, friends, and communities towards embracing healthier lifestyles. Moreover, these ambassadors passionately champion the adoption of inclusive policies by healthcare providers and governments, advocating for equitable access to health, wellness services, education, and resources for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The immersive health messenger training program spans over 8 hours, encompassing diverse health topics and advocacy strategies.
Health Messenger program recruits special Olympics young athletes from age of 15 to 30.
They receive training by professionals to become advocates and role models within their Special Olympics community at large.
